The ride-hailing app Uber has been under fire for the death of a passenger who fell from a ride-sharing app’s pedestal.
The incident was caught on camera.
The footage was posted to the app’s Instagram account.
Uber has since taken down the video.
The video has now been removed, but you can still view it on the app.
The passenger fell while taking a ride with Uber on the platform of the ride-share app, according to a statement posted to Uber’s Instagram page.
The company has since said that the rider fell “out of the sky” while riding on the ride app.
Uber released a statement on the incident on Wednesday.
“We can confirm that the person who fell off of the Uber platform was an Uber rider.
We have taken immediate steps to ensure our safety while on our platform and are taking additional measures to ensure safety for our riders,” the statement read.
The ride service says the incident was reported to the Uber team within 48 hours of the incident.
The rider’s family has since launched a Facebook page to try and raise awareness about the incident and to raise money for him.
“The family of this brave rider is asking for any support and donations,” the page read.
“Our family and I are asking that you all please donate towards our insurance and other medical expenses for our brave boy.”
The ride app says it will continue to improve its safety protocols.
