Posted by Bleacher View on September 21, 2018 In an attempt to bring some clarity to the subject of the Los Angeles Clippers, here’s a look at the teams most in need of a new coach: The Warriors The Golden State Warriors are the reigning NBA champions, and they’ll be coming off a season in which they won a second straight NBA title.
But the Warriors have made it clear that they’re willing to part ways with coach Steve Kerr, who has been with the franchise for three decades.
After taking the Heat to the Western Conference finals last season, they’ve struggled to make the playoffs this season, going just 3-13.
And after losing their next two games in the first round, the Warriors were eliminated in the second round.
The team is set to be eliminated from the playoffs in two weeks, which makes this a perfect opportunity for a coach with an NBA pedigree.
The Cavaliers The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for their first head coaching job since Larry Brown retired.
With an offseason of free agency and the NBA draft this week, the Cavs have an impressive list of candidates to land the job.
After losing two games to the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals, they could be looking to make another run at the title.
After all, they were the only team in the conference to lose the first two games of the Finals.
But coach Mike Brown is one of the few coaches who can match up with LeBron James, who is coming off of an MVP season and has established himself as one of America’s greatest players.
Bucks coach J.B. Bickerstaff is also a candidate.
Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Tom Thibodeau has been the subject for speculation this offseason, but he’s a former player and an assistant under Brown.
The Lakers are looking to fill their vacancy with an offensive guru who can help develop their young talent.
New York Knicks assistant coach Scott Perry was fired by the Knicks last season and is reportedly open to a return to coaching.
He’s a veteran assistant who coached the New York Knicks to a championship in 2008, which led to the team becoming the first team in NBA history to win the title in five consecutive seasons.
Perry has been named assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets, who also have an assistant coach vacancy.
Phoenix Suns assistant coach D.J. Williams was fired after a disappointing 2016-17 season in Arizona.
Williams is considered one of those assistants who have the ability to help turn around a struggling franchise.
The Suns are looking at a head coaching opportunity, and Williams could be the perfect candidate.
The Warriors have been searching for a head coach for a while now, and with the salary cap rising to the point that some teams have to be willing to take a pay cut to bring in someone with an outside shot at the job, the Clippers and Lakers are two teams who could make a great hire for an assistant.
